Kurt Arnold and Cory Itkin, maritime lawyers at the Houston-based firm of Arnold & Itkin LLP, successfully resolved a case on behalf of a Houma, Louisiana production operator for $700,000. The firm’s client was near a separator vessel on a production barge when the vessel overpressurized and exploded. He was diagnosed with severe Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder ("PTSD") and barred from returning to work in the oil and gas industry by his doctors. The defendant argued that Arnold & Itkin LLP's client was to blame for the incident and that he was faking his injuries. The accident happened in St. Charles Parish, and the case was filed in Galveston County, Texas. The case settled just 3 days before trial.
